Canadian Dental Care Plan
At Clinique Dentaire Dorval, we are pleased to support eligible patients through the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), a new initiative from the dental plan government of Canada. The CDCP makes oral healthcare more accessible by reducing treatment costs for qualified individuals. If you’re over 65, under 18, or have a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate, you could already meet the eligibility requirements. Applications for adults aged 18 to 64 will open in May 2025, making affordable dental care possible for even more Canadians.
Who Qualifies and What’s Covered
To benefit from the CDCP, patients must be Canadian residents for tax purposes, have no access to Canadian dental insurance, and meet income requirements. If your adjusted family net income is under $90,000, you could qualify for partial or full coverage. Depending on income, co-payments may apply. Covered services include diagnostic exams, preventive cleanings, basic and major treatments, sedation, and even orthodontics—many of which require preauthorization for reimbursement.
Understanding Co-Payments and Out-of-Pocket Costs
Your share of costs depends on your income bracket. For example, if your family income is below $70,000, the CDCP may cover 100% of eligible treatments. Higher income brackets may require you to cover part of the costs. Some services not covered by the CDCP or exceeding their fee limits may involve additional charges. Patients are encouraged to speak with our team to understand how the plan applies to their care.
